A somewhat weak argument for evidence of evolution from Dawkins and calling this woman dogmatic, as if she is biased? She seems to be right about excluding other opinions, which indeed happens everywhere and not just in her country. The big question is why there can't be democracy in this area.

With consciousness still ‘the hard problem’ and it not being clear if mind emerged with quantum events, denying that there is intelligence in the cosmos now appears quaint. Consciousness does not design it dreams reality into existence, mind thinks, experiences, plans and designs, humans creates nothing original; astro turf is not grass. Humans imitate what is in nature or combines from what is found in nature and makes discoveries from nature. Mr. Dawkins conveniently overlooks this fact.

Material science has plenty to say, and that is the problem. Explain consciousness is it fundamental, and what about mind? Does it emerge with quantum events? The forces what role exactly do they play? And magnetism, what exactly is it? Materialism, life based on the elemental doesn’t cut it and never will.

If I could wave a magic wand I'd remove all of this martial, war-like talk surrounding cancer - "He/she fought cancer" or "He/she lost their long battle against cancer." FFS, pur-lease. Cancer is a condition that some people have or develop; sadly a great many people will succumb to it given that after cardiovascular diseases it's the second biggest killer. When materialists can understand and explain consciousness, is it fundamental, and mind, does it emerge with quantum events then they can discount religion. The ‘hard problem of consciousness’ would be solved if materialists understood that Consciousness is God. Mind is elemental and emerges with quantum events. These men are very intelligent, and very well educated and yet, sadly, clueless.

We are 'spiritual' beings, needing to express ourselves and explore our deeper possibilities of love and openness, a higher power if you will, but I see the social coercion of religion can hijack that, to twist us into hating each other.

I certainly appreciate Mr. Kumar's poetic view of the world, and he is clearly a very nice man; I respect his quest for wonder and beauty. I think his mistake is in not realising that despite his criticisms of it, _science_ can bring about the sense of wonder he seeks, a sense that can in fact be called spiritual, though I probably would not use the word, since it has unscientific connotations.

Energy I understand but spirit and soul go into the realm of metaphysics. Also, this unexplained interaction of the energy of everything is too fuzzy for me. A crocodile has a very tiny amount of spirit if it can have an attachment to another creature - but only because it's needs are served by that creature feeding it meat of other creatures. Dogs have visible spirit by affections and emotions, also connected with their needs. Humans are attached to this concept of spirit, but relationships are also malleable. We also regard our needs as significant, as well as familial attachments. Humans will disregard what we need to do and are influenced by what we should do. For example, we don't need to support a disabled person, but there's an attachment to what we should do. That also goes for caring for an elderly family member - if we had no shared connection, we don't have any need to do it except as a paid service. Spirit is an enveloping manifestation of emotion.

Home birth as an example of rejection of science is an unhappy choice. What happens in many hospitals during childbirth is very little science, but rather a lot of commerce. Science will help determine during pregnancy whether or not a home birth is safe and feasible. The procedure is not nearly as deadly as it is reported to be. So sorry that you were unable to understand what I was saying. I was not attempting to dispute Darwinism, Atheism, or evolutionary theory. All I was questioning was, when every human, and animal, development can be (quite rightly) placed within the envelope of evolution. Then how can it be, as there seems to be, a tabu in seeing that faith, and thereby religion, are just as much part of that evolution as all its other functions of existence? In the development of life we take it for granted that as such life develops it become equipped with mechanisms for its protection. In animals we have T cells, antibodies, and leukocytes, however in higher species like apes and especially humans there have arisen a dimension of life that cannot be protected by biological means, and that is the dimension of rational thought and what we call intelligence. With intelligence - by its necessity to be complex - protection cannot be administered by antibodies, T cells, or leukocytes so evolution, over time, has developed an external form of protection for the frailty in humans, and possibly lesser animals, stability and what we call sanity. This is implemented by deputizing some complexity to the care of a higher entity which is created within intelligence to facilitate stability and security. Whether this higher entity is real or imagined is open to conjecture, yet as it is a product of the mind and also has a necessary function, perhaps it falls into a twilight zone of existence in our understanding? Why does it bother you? And why is converting, releasing people, so important to you? And why should anybody be interested in what you believe
